Job Reflection

Job was a man who experienced numerous struggles and tribulations in his everyday life. Job lost his family, health, and wealth. Looking back on all the struggles that Job encountered, Job decided to reflect on himself and the tribulations that had occurred to him and challenge God and the fairness of his actions. In Job 13:15, it states, 'Though he slay me, yet will I hope in him; I will surely defend my ways to his face.'

Within the book of Job, we see a man who goes through the suffering that no one ever suspects and the suffering that he has to endure. Job decides to challenge God and question His justice, seeking answers about the fairness of God's actions. Within my own life, I can feel with Job and his questioning of God. During times of distress, I sometimes feel alone, thinking that God is punishing me, even though I believe I don't deserve it. These roadblocks in life make me wonder, 'What did I do to deserve this?'

I think about myself and what I can do to better myself and want guidance and understanding to help me throughout my life moving forward. I think of Job’s actions, not a sense of rebuking God and rebelling him but a sense of expressing his emotions and thoughts as all humans do. We all seek guidance during times of heartbreak and loss, and this time of life for Job was one that he wanted answers to. Job sought answers during a time when he had no control.

Reflecting on Job 13, Job's experience with his struggles leads him to seek understanding even during the hardest days of his life. Job doesn't go on a rampage but asks for guidance in his life. As the story continues, we see that God answers Job's talk about the complexity of God and the image He represents.

There are just some things in our lives that we cannot understand, and faith is important during times of struggle. Just know that God is there to protect us even though we may not see it. Looking back on the story of Job and the hardships that he encountered, I look at myself and see the importance of faith and patience. While I might not understand everything that happens in my life, I can look back and say confidently that God has my back and that he will guide me through the struggles in this life. Job's story serves as a shining light, reminding me to maintain composure even during the most difficult times.
